When CIMCO was founded in 1913 as Canadian Ice Machine Company, the refrigeration technologies that we take for granted today had only recently been developed. In fact, CIMCO's main competition at the time was natural ice harvested from local lakes and rivers. The turning point: when CIMCO founder, Tom Shipley, recognized that ice for home boxes could be provided year round at a lower cost with the use of the newly available refrigeration equipment. Using equipment supplied by his origional firm, The Shipley company of Brooklyn, New York, he began servicing the refrigeration needs of Canadians. Today, CIMCO Refrigeration is a market leader in the design, engineering, fabrication, installation and servicing of industrial and recreational refrigeration systems, and employs more than 1000 people across North America
